XKEC RECRUITS ITS 1000th MEMBER

Five years ago the Jaguar XK8/XKR Enthusiasts Club (XKEC) was but a dream for Mark Gregory from Kent, but in November 2008 it celebrated the joining of its 1,000th international club member.

More than a dozen club members and their Jaguar XK8/XKR braved the poor weather recently to welcome Simon Cockbill at DesignXKR's HQ in Andover to celebrate a milestone in the clubs history.

Simon, a Compliance Officer from Berkshire, was presented with an inscribed glass shield, a certificate and a number of Jaguar books to help celebrate this occasion.

In receiving his award Simon commented "I was very surprised, but also very proud, to become the 1000th member of a club of made up of such friendly and knowledgeable enthusiasts. I would like to thank Mark Gregory (club founder) for organising the welcome event for me and for his excellent choice of mementoes."

The XKEC is the world's largest single model car club in the world that relates to the Jaguar XK8 / XKR and boasts an international membership that stretches to over 17 countries.

Mark Gregory says: "The recruitment of Simon as our 1000th member is a great milestone in our clubs very short history and I sincerely welcome him to the club. The clubs success is based upon the great friendliness that everyone shares and one where a family orientated environment is paramount. I am sincerely proud of what my team and I have achieved and hope that our membership continues to prosper.

"One day very soon I hope we will be seen as one of the major contributors in promoting the Jaguar XK model across the world"
